You’ll find the Paper Model Museum in Police nad Metují right next to the bus station. This is a permanent exhibition of a model world made of paper, the only one of its kind not only in the Czech Republic. You can find out about the history of paper model-making and the work of artists and modellers past and present.
Cut-out kits – models of cars, planes and particularly houses, castles and chateaus became very popular in this country in the nineteen sixties. Since then gluing paper models has been a hobby for people of all ages for several generations. Their work can be found in children’s rooms and living rooms, in planners’ offices as well as at elementary and secondary schools and universities. You can see some highly precise works inspired by many fields at competition shows and occasional exhibitions. They are crafted to the finest detail, and many of them even move. The best of them are on display in the museum exhibition, which features more than 1200 models from leading model-makers from the Czech Republic, Poland and Slovakia.
