If you’re travelling by car, there’s a small car park on site, which charges a fee during the main season. However, you can easily get there by bus. From the bus station in Polička, the journey takes just 6 minutes. Get off at the Police n. M., Pěkov, Ostaš stop and follow the asphalt road up the hill for 1 km to the little village of Ostaš. You can have a drink and a good bite to eat there; the U Malíků pub is open all year round. You can also stay overnight in chalets or camp out in tents.

Upper Labyrinth

The Upper Labyrinth trail following the blue markers is 3.5 km long. It starts amongst a colony of cottages, from where the route gently ascends. The forest path leads to a rock maze, where children especially will be in their element. If you don’t get lost in the maze, continue on to a lookout point, with a view of the Bears, the Wounded Falcon and the Armourer. Continuing along, you pass by some other bizarre, even a little scary formations, such as the Barrow of Death or the Devil's Car. At 700 m above sea level, the summit of Ostaš has some magnificent views of the surrounding area. The Krtiček viewpoint offers a panoramic vista of the Javoří Mountains and the Broumovské stěny rock walls. On the right, notice the solitary rock tower called Cikánka, which was the first tower to be climbed on Ostaš in 1939. From the Frýdlant viewpoint you can enjoy views of what was then Prussian Friedland (now Mieroszów in Poland) and the Polish Owl Mountains.

Lower Labyrinth (Cat Rocks)

The green hiking trail leads from the cottage settlement to the Lower Labyrinth, which is 100 m lower than the Upper Labyrinth. The 3 km trail first takes you to the crossroads to the Sluja českých bratří (Grotto of the Czech Brethren). To get to the grotto, turn right and go down the steep sandstone steps. Legend has it that the 50 m-long rock fissure served as a prayer room for the Protestants during the Recatholicization era.
