Teplice Rocks - National Nature Reserve

Take a trip through the Teplice rock labyrinth, which is literally breathtaking in places. Before you get to stand in the centre of the Teplice Rocks, below the monumental Temple Walls, you’ll pass through the long Entrance Gorge. Here, the rocks on both sides become steeper, higher, more inaccessible... The valley eventually narrows to form an inhospitable gorge. This has had to be widened in several places in the last century - that's how impassable the Teplice rock town was. Behind the gorges of Rock and Temple Square, the rocks open up again, with the fragrant scent of Krakonoš' garden and the welcome sight of the sun. You’re now below the Temple Walls. Continue along the edge of the rock town and through Siberia’s deep gorges to complete the circuit. If you fancy, on the way back you can climb the steep stairs to the ruins of the rock castle of Střmen. Although going around the whole circuit does make for a more challenging trip, the sight of the wild natural parts is well worth it for everyone, regardless of age.

You can get to the Teplice rock town from the east from the car park by the Orlík Hotel (Teplice nad Metují - Skály railway stop). The circuit that requires a ticket is marked in blue and is 6 km long. The Teplice Rocks are made up of long and high walls and gorges, with more of them than in any other rock towns. The formations Smetana u klavíru (Smetana at the Piano), Chrámové náměstí (Temple Square), Martinská Stěna (Martin's Wall), Krakonošovo párátko Krakonoš Toothpick, the Siberia Gorge, and the climb up to the former castle of Střmen are just a few of the highlights of a sightseeing trip for which you should count of spending at least three hours of your time.
